Businesses offer
incentives to blood donors
MEDIC currently is in need of A-positive and O-negative blood, and two Sevier County businesses are providing incentives to blood donors.
If you donate blood at All American Pancake on Oct. 17 anytime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. you will receive a free meal coupon.
Those donating blood at Ripley’s Old MacDonald’s Farm Mini-Golf on Oct. 21 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. will receive a free golf game. Old MacDonald’s is located on the Parkway at the main entrance to Tanger Five Oaks Mall.
All donors must be 17 or older, weigh more than 110 pounds and have positive identification. Donors will also receive a free MEDIC T-shirt.
Other blood drive locations on Oct. 21 are at Ft. Sanders Sevier Medical Center (nursing home), 709 Middlecreek Road, and the Pigeon Forge Fire Department, 225 Pine Mountain Road. Times are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for each location.
All donors will automatically become members of MEDIC’s Family Coverage Program. Family coverage means that a donation to MEDIC will ensure your family does not have to pay blood supply processing fees at any hospital in the U.S. These fees are normally not included in insurance coverage; therefore, this benefit can be very convenient in the event of a family emergency.
MEDIC is a not-for-profit organization and is the sole blood supplier for 21 counties and 28 area hospitals.
