On Burglary
and Multiple Motor Vehicle Theft Charges

On Oct. 4th, the Sevierville Police Department (SPD) received a call from a citizen reporting that a residence on Cedar Drive was being burglarized. According to SPD Sgt. Todd Naillon, the citizen provided police with a vehicle description and license plate number.
SPD Detectives Robbie Ball and Kevin Bush, along with Sgt. Naillon, were able to locate a suspect, 19-year old David W. Whaley of Sevierville, who was ultimately charged with the burglary.
During the investigation, detectives were also able to tie Whaley to an incident that occurred on September 22, 2005, where two motorcycles and two pick-up trucks were allegedly stolen from Autoway Auto Center, located at 225 Winfield Dunn Parkway (Hwy. 66). Detectives charged Whaley and a 17-year old Sevierville male with one count of burglary and four counts of motor vehicle theft stemming from that incident.
The four vehicles have been recovered. Detectives also state that charges are pending against two additional suspects.
Brian Eslinger, owner of Autoway Auto Center was unavailable for a comment. A salesperson on the lot told a Herald reporter that the vehicles had already been recovered sometime earlier.
