Tracy Ivy of Jefferson City has been appointed by General Al Schmutzer to serve as a Criminal Investigator for the Fourth Judicial District Attorney General’s Office.
Investigator Ivy has been serving as a detective with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department since 1998. Jefferson County Sheriff David Davenport stated that Tracy did an excellent job for them and that he hated to lose him. “Tracy has an excellent future in law enforcement and I wish him well”, stated Sheriff Davenport.
“He will be primarily assigned to work in Cocke and Grainger Counties but will be available to Jefferson and Sevier Counties as needed”, stated Schmutzer.
“Tracy comes highly recommended. Personally, I’ve been impressed with his abilities as an investigator and the professional manner in which he conducts himself. Most importantly, he is a man of integrity and I’m glad to have him on board”, says Schmutzer.
Before working at the Sheriff’s Department, Investigator Ivy served as a patrol officer in White Pine from 1995 to 1998. He graduated from Jefferson County High School and Walters State Police Academy. He has received special training in crime scene investigations and clandestine methamphetamine laboratory investigations.
“He is certified as an investigator of meth labs, which is highly specialized because of the dangers involved in being exposed to these labs and will continue to be available to law enforcement agencies in the district in that capacity”, stated Schmutzer.
Ivy is married to Felicia Southern of Jefferson City where they reside.
