The Eagles started their post-season off to a good start Tuesday night with a crushing win over Fulton 7-1. The first half alone saw Seymour net four goals, two of which came from Chase Parrott. Omar Lopez, Chris O’Connor, Brandon Rose and Josh Heaton also placed their names on the list with a goal each.
While looking at the sidelines you could tell it was going to be a rough road for Fulton. They had only a few substitute players compared to Seymour’s extensive roster of them. Players get tired on the field and when that happens that make mistakes. The Eagles took full advantage of this added advantage and schooled the Falcons.
The start of the game was a bit slow as the Seymour players tried to adjust to Fulton’s playing style. The Falcons were able to keep the ball on Seymour’s field for quite awhile, but it was the Eagles defense that did not allow any attempts on the goal and eventually passed the ball across the field.
Parrott scored the first goal of the game early into the first half and the Eagles took off from there. Pounding the net with 30 total shots, including an amazing six shots on goal by O’Connor, Seymour was attacking with full force.
Fulton eventually managed to get the ball past all Seymour’s defenders and in the blink of an eye, fired a shot past Eric Humes. Humes had blocked a shot right in front of him and the ball traveled toward the sideline. Fulton stopped the ball from going out of bounds and attempted a shot that barely slid past Eric’s hands and into the goal.
The rest of the game Seymour stopped every attempt on the Falcons behalf of even thinking about scoring any more goals. The team allowed Fulton only seven shots the entire game, while continuing to blast in their own scores.
At one point in the game the ref blew his whistle when Spenser Proctor took a hard check and went to the ground. This set Seymour up for a penalty kick. Josh Heaton took on Fulton’s keeper one on one and drifted the ball past him for his goal. Chase Parrott picked up another hat trick in this game while Nathan Patterson, Andrew Moser and Spenser Proctor had an assist each.
The Seymour Eagles Soccer squad was yet again victorious in tournament play as they met and defeated visiting Alcoa Wednesday night in a 4-0 shutout.
Chase Parrott, Chris O’Connor, Spenser Proctor and Justin Kirby managed to get past the keeper and lead the Eagles to victory. Parrott also had two assists while Joe Heaton helped out with one.
The defense was unstoppable as Omar Lopez, Brandon Graham and O’Connor played an unbelievable game in the middle. The fullbacks, Luke Walker, Carlos Lopez, Aaron Burchetter and John Weaver were also on top of their game.
The Eagles put forth a valiant effort Friday night against Christian Academy of Knoxville but were unable to pull out a victory. Seymour traveled to CAK to compete in the finals of the District tournament.
The Eagles took the lead after the first half of play when Chase Parrott fed the ball to Spencer Proctor who was able to score the first goal of the game. Seymour would not hold onto the lead for long as CAK was able to score three goals of their own before the game was over.
Eric Humes played goal keep for the game and was backed up by Brandon Graham and Omar Lopez as his defenders.
The Eagles defeated both Fulton and Alcoa on their way to the championship and now move on to the Regional tournament.
