Motorcyclist airlifted via LIFESTAR

The Sevierville Police (SPD) and Fire Departments responded to a four-vehicle accident that included one motorcycle, at approximately 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, February 23. The accident occurred on Winfield Dunn Parkway (Hwy. 66), in the northbound lanes just past Boyd’s Creek Highway. The north bound lanes were closed from the time of the accident until about 12:15 a.m.
According to SPD Officer Preston Parrish, it appeared that a 1999 Yamaha YFR motorcycle, driven by 42-year old Robert M. Hembree of Sevierville collided with the rear of a 2002 Honda Civic, driven by 26-year old Robert V. Dalrymple of Orlando, Florida as both were traveling north on Hwy. 66.Witnesses reported that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to and at the time of the accident.A 1998 Nissan Altima driven by 18-year old Crystal K. Gibson of Sevierville had apparently stopped in the roadway due to the accident when it was struck in the rear by a 1999 Toyota Camry driven by 30-year old Leila C. Clawson of Jefferson City. Neither driver was transported to a hospital.Hembree was flown via LIFESTAR air ambulance to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with serious injuries. Dalrymple was transported to Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center by the Sevier County Ambulance Service with what appeared at the scene to be minor injuries.
The accident is under investigation.
