U.S. Sens. Bill Frist (R-TN) and Lamar Alexander (R-TN) today introduced a Senate resolution honoring retiring U.S. Ambassador to Japan and former Tennessee Senator and Senate Majority Leader Howard Baker.  The resolution recognizes Ambassador Baker’s 30 years of dedicated public service to the president, the United States Congress, and the citizens of Tennessee.
 “Senator Baker has distinguished himself as one of America’s most trusted and valued public servants,” said Frist.  “I first met Howard when I was considering my run for the United States Senate, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of Senator Baker’s wise counsel and friendship.  Always sensible, always decent, Senator Baker was a giant in this institution and deeply admired by his colleagues on both sides of the aisle.”
