Nice
hike open to everyone
of all ages
February 26, 2005- The Walter’s State Community College Outdoor Club met today to hike the Little Pigeon River Trail under the leadership of Gary Acquaviva. The Little Pigeon River Trail is located in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park near Greenbrier.
The trail is an easy-moderate hike with beautiful scenery. The Little Pigeon River runs adjacent to the trail for most of the hike and yields many picturesque waterfalls. The lightly rolling terrain passes by several old homesteads and graveyards, but the real treats are from the river and the numerous streams in the area.
The next hike planned by the WSCC Outdoor Club will be on March 19th, and it will be to The Old Settler’s Trail in the GSMNP. This trail will give reflections of the lives of the early settlers and will pass by the remnants of long forgotten graveyards, homesteads, and walls of stone. It will definitely be an enlightening experience.
The hike is open to everyone, and people of all ages are urged to attend. For more information on this hike or any other upcoming hikes contact Gary Acquaviva at (423) 585-6949 or his website at www.valueviva.com.
