KNOXVILLE, Tenn. Due to unplayable field conditions at Tennessee’s Tyson Park, the scheduled home-opening doubleheader against Marshall on Wed., Feb. 23rd, has officially been postponed. A make-up date for the two games has been established for April 27th in Knoxville, Tenn., at 2 and 4 p.m. “We are postponing Wednesday’s doubleheader because the Tyson Park field was deemed unplayable, and it was believed that conditions would not improve enough to play safely by 2 p.m. tomorrow,” said Lady Vol Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Operations Todd Dooley. “Our department certainly does not want to take a chance on players with either team being injured. We think it’s better to reschedule the games now before Marshall travels down to Knoxville. We are very hopeful that we can get the home games in on the rescheduled date of April 27.”The No. 7 Lady Vols (13-0) will look to continue their best-ever start to a campaign when they head to the prestigious Palm Springs Classic in Palm Springs, Calif., over Feb 25-27. The Orange & White will face a difficult slate which begins on Friday at 4 p.m. ET against No. 22 Pacific. Other match ups during tourney play for UT will include No. 19/20 Oregon State, No. 24/22 Long Beach State, No. 2/1 California and Notre Dame.
