What will
a man do?

In my drive to work, I have seen an increasingly amount of skunks flattened on the highway. I was amazed that the member of skunks actually exceeded that of the normal “possum pancake.” It has been brought to my attention, however, that February is the beginning of mating season for the animal, and probably played a role in their increased deaths.
Now February is traditionally recognized as the “love month.” With Valentine’s Day the biggest day for florists, it must be assumed that men will definitely prove their love for their women during this time. Buying flowers, candy and jewelry are common ways a male can show his love for his mate, but there are apparently other options, as we see in the skunk world.
Pepe Le Pew, one of the more popular skunks, was always going to extremes attempting to win the affections of a female. Buying flowers, wining and dining, soft music and the ever-popular kisses along the arm were traits he would employ to show his admiration. Unlike his real counterparts, I don’t recall him ever running in front of a speeding vehicle to prove his undying love. His gentle touch, suave demeanor and, of course, his French accent almost always had his ladies captivated.
Men today don’t even have to go to that extreme. A little romance now and then will usually get what you want, but as women, we aren’t asking for you to put your life on the line or spend a lot of money to show us affection. Merely being thoughtful is all it usually takes to let a woman know she is loved and appreciated. A little note left behind, a spontaneous backrub that is unsolicited, volunteering to clean up dinner dishes, or even commenting on her productivity will yield warm results.
Finding a man that can, and will, adorn his mate with this type of fondness is difficult, or nearly impossible. However, it has been proven that they can be taught this type of behavior when it elicits positive results for them. Overall, men like to see their women happy, and if their actions produce the desired outcome, chances are, they will repeat the action. I believe Pavlov proved this with a dog.
In conclusion, I know there are men in the world that would lie down his life for his mate as skunks regularly do. There are also men who will coerce a woman into romance the way Pepe Le Pew does; and then there are those that expect something for nothing. The question is, what type of man is in your family?
