Proposed improvement of US 321 in Gatlinburg

The Tennessee Department of Transportation, an equal opportunity affirmative action employer, will conduct a Community Workshop today, Monday, January 31, at the Gatlinburg -Pittman High School, 150 Proffitt Road, in Gatlinburg, to discuss Sevier County project number 78013-3225-04, proposed improvement of US 321 (SR 73), from Glades Road to Buckhorn Road. The US 321 (State Route 73) project is currently being constructed as a five-lane section (four traffic lanes with a center turn lane). Two alternate design concepts, which consider changing a portion of the project to a four-lane section with a landscaped median in lieu of the five-lane section with a center turn lane, will be presented for public input. Both of these alternated design concepts include aesthetic retaining wall treatments and landscaping.
This community workshop will be held from 5 p.m.-7 p.m., during which time there will be a short formal presentation and a brief question and answer period. The public is invited to ask questions and make comments during the workshop and will be given the opportunity to make their opinions known concerning the need for the project and to present views on any alternative designs. Representatives of the department and US-321 Resource Team members will be available to answer questions concerning any aspect of the project. The public is invited to review the displays during the scheduled two hours.
