CBS TV aired Pride, Passion and Power, a one-hour special focusing on women’s collegiate basketball, last Sunday afternoon, January 30. Parts of the special were filmed at the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.
Produced by ESPN, the show was hosted by ESPN’s Rece Davis and Lisa Leslie. Davis and Leslie’s stand-up commentaries were filmed at the Hall of Fame on January 10.
The show included features on:
• Former Villanova All-American Shelly Pennefather, now a cloistered nun
• Louisiana Tech’s Erica Smith-Taylor, attempting a midseason return to the basketball court after giving birth to her and her husband’s (middleweight boxing contender Jermain Taylor) first child in early December
• A “makeover” with Ohio State head coach Jim Foster
• Five of the leading candidates for the 2005 State Farm Wade Trophy, which will go to the national player of the year—Seimone Augustus (LSU), Jacqueline Batteast (Notre Dame), Tiffany Jackson (Texas), Janel McCarville (Minnesota), and Kendra Wecker (Kansas State)
The mission of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame is to “honor the past, celebrate the present, and promote the future” of women’s basketball.
