Walters State wins two conference games at home. The Lady Senators remain undefeated in the conference, toppling Cleveland State, 81-56, and in the men’s game, the Senators defeated the Cougars, 85-64.
Kathy McInnis led the Lady Senators by draining five 3-pointers on her way to 19 points. Cortney Brown added 18 points and hauled in 9 rebounds, Brittany Frazier scored 17 points.
For the Lady Cougars, Kendra McGill scored 11 points including three from 3-point range, and Deanna Smith and Kristy Minton each added 10 points.
The Lady Senators moved up one spot in the national rankings to No. 9 this week. The win takes their record to 18-2 (7-0). The Lady Cougars go to 13-5 (3-4).
Ralph Legg led the Senators with 19 points including two from beyond the 3-point arc. Adron Marshall and Lamont Campbell each added 14 points
For the Cougars, Kyle Wells hit four 3-pointers on his way to 18 points. Rob Shuler scored 14 points and nabbed 12 boards. Benitez James added 12 points.
The Senators are now 16-4 (6-2). The Cougars fall to 8-7 (2-5)
Walters State will remain at home for another conference match up on Saturday, Jan. 29 when they host Motlow State. The Lady Senators will play at 2 p.m. and the Senators will take the court at 4 p.m.
