The Sevier County Trustee’s Office said that 2004 property taxes will become delinquent the end of February. Anyone who has not paid their property taxes by Feb. 28 will be subject to interest and penalty in the amount of 1.5 percent added each month thereafter on any unpaid taxes. If you have not received your 2004 property tax information please contact the Sevier County Trustee’s office at 865-453-2767, and they will send out another copy to you.
The Sevier County Trustee’s Office is now rebilling unpaid 2003 property taxes. These taxes, if unpaid by March 31, will be turned over to the Chancery Court, where they are subject to a tax sale, attorney’s fees, court costs and other interest and penalties. So double check if you don’t think you have paid your 2003 property taxes and contact the Sevier County Trustee’s Office to avoid any of the extra costs.
Jettie Clabo, Sevier County Trustee, said that the worst case scenario is that someone’s property would be sold, and anyone has the right to buy it.
