Over 100 Seymour Middle School students entered artwork in the 2nd annual SMS Art Contest.  Winners were chosen from 5 different categories.  The Grand Prize Winner for drawing was Carlee Laws, an eighth grader.  Carlee entered three pieces of art work including an Asian woman that won.  She also entered a fashion design and a Native American still-life.  Another eighth grader, Chelsea Blair was also awarded a Grand Prize in Creativity and Writing.  She entered an original book that she wrote and illustrated.  Chelsea also entered several drawings of characters from the Harry Potter book series.Other winners include the following students.

Several Honorable Mention Certificates were given too.  Winners were:  Sarah Black, Painting; Cory Smith, Sculpture;  Paige Taylor, Drawing;  Kyle Woloch, Drawing;  James Payne, Drawing;  Chelsea Trowbridge, Drawing;  Savannah Craven, Drawing;  Travis Campbell, Drawing;  Summer Murrell, Drawing.
Art Teacher, Pam Cosner thought the art contest was a huge success.  “We had so many exceptional entries that we had to divide winners up into catagories this year.  There were over twice as many entries this year than last year.  The students at SMS are very talented and were extremely excited about the contest.  It’s only our second contest, but it just keeps getting better!  I cant’ wait until next year!” Cash prizes, ribbons, t-shirts, movie passes, free dance tickets, certificates, candy and drinks from the concession stand were given away to the winners.  All students that participated were rewarded with a coke and popcorn party.
