Randy Slagle, Water / Wastewater Utility Service Lead worker for the City of Alcoa, was honored by the Tennessee Water and Wastewater Association (TWWA) with its annual M.L. Brickey Award. This statewide honor is presented by the TWWA to deserving recipients based on service, leadership, dedication, guidance, devotion, and untiring workmanship-all exemplified by the late Mr. Brickey, a leader in the water/wastewater industry. Slagle was honored at the TWWA’s November 18, 2004 meeting in Loudon,
Randy is a native of Blount County, having graduated from Alcoa High School in 1980. He started work with the City of Alcoa in July 1987 as a Laborer in the Water & Wastewater Division of the Public Works Department. He was subsequently promoted to Utility Service Worker I in August 1991, Heavy Equipment Operator in September 1993 and Utility Service worker II in July 1994. He was promoted to his present position of Utility Service Lead worker in July 2001. In his 17 years with the City, Slagle has served on several employee teams with the City. His experience, knowledge, and expertise have contributed greatly to several process changes and other improvement projects at the WTP. Slagle and his wife Randy and his wife Sherri are the proud parents of a daughter, Ashley, and a son, Corey. He and his family attend Bethel United Methodist Church. Randy is also involved in community activities, including helping with youth sports.
