Brad Daniels scores high for Bears
The Sevier County Smoky Bears rallied from an 11-point deficit to defeat Jefferson County, 56-50, Saturday in the Chop House Classic at Knox Central. The Smoky Bears’, (2-3), Brad Daniels led all scorers with 19 points. The Bears were coming off a loss Friday to South Greene after injuries sent the team away with a 50-29 loss.
Sevier County was down 34-23 at the half and rallied with a great display of defense, allowing only 16 points in the second half of the game.
James Feezel stepped up with 12 points and Bret Book had 11 fall with three of the Bears making the double digit scoring. Matt Hodges, and Drew Sims combined for another ten.
Jefferson County’s high scorer was Shane Acuff with 15 points.
The Smoky Bearettes lost a heartbreaker to South Greene 67-64 on Friday night. The teams were even at the end of regulation, 60-60, and had to go into overtime to determine the winner. Amanda Feeney led the Bearettes with 18 points, Jacquelyn Kremer netted 13 with Julie Fox getting 10.
The girls looked strong in the first quarter, taking a 10-9 lead into the second, but fell behind 31-17 by the end of the half and they could never make up the deficit. The Bearettes fell to a record of 2-3 after losing to Farragut on Saturday during the event at Knoxville Central.
