Record turnout around the county
Early voting in East Tennessee was on a record pace this year, and with the early voting ending on Thursday, many records were set for turnout. The lines outside the Elections Commission Warehouse in Sevierville were long early, with big crowds lined up to cast their vote.
“I have to work on Tuesday,” sated Nancy Bohanon of Sevierville. “School is out and I work with the after school program, we’re going on a field trip. I wanted to make sure I get my vote in.”
Ronee Flynn with the Sevier County Elections Office said, “It’s been very smooth with no problems.”
With the election less than a week away, polls show that the presidential race is very close, and there are several things that voters want to get an opinion on that are on the ballot. This election seems to have the younger voters coming out in force, and with the records at the early voting stations, the election on Tuesday is looking for record numbers for turnout also.
If you have any questions about where you vote you can contact the Elections Office located in the Sevier County Courthouse or call at 453-6985.
