Event held at Walden’s Landing to benefit locals

Smoky Mountain Area Rescue Ministries (SWARM) held a Christian book sale at Walden’s Landing on Saturday and Sunday, October 16-17, to help raise money for the needy. The event was well attended.
SWARM offers practical Christian counseling, emergency shelter, rent payment assistants, utility bill assistance, minor car repairs, transportation help, fuel, and clothing for work and school to needy individuals and families in the area.
Greg Johnson, Chairman of the Board for SWARM, who was manning the tent sale on Saturday stated, “When you talk about people needing assistance with their utilities you can figure that if they are late on a utility bill they are probably two steps to being homeless, if they are behind in their rent payment they are probably one step to being homeless.”
The sale was held October 22,23 and 24 and was open the same hours at Walden’s Landing. Bible Book Warehouse on highway 66 in Sevierville provided the books from their warehouse with a percentage of the sales from the books being donated to SWARM. “We provided the set up and the volunteers,” stated Johnson, “They provided the books. We have had a pretty good sale.”
Proceeds from the sale will be used to help families and individuals in our community that are in need.
