Mr. Jack Cook has been appointed as the Interim Executive Director for the Sevier County United Way, after Lisa Butler Tarwater resigned. Cook has served on the Board of Directors for five years and has also been the treasurer, member of the Executive Committee and Chairman of the Board. His experience and vast knowledge in fundraising will greatly benefit the United Way until the position can be permanently filled.
According to a statement released by the organization the entire community has benefited through Tarwater’s dedication and service to the United Way.
Tarwater has been Executive Director of the organization for over two years. Her resignation comes with a sense of loss to the entire community. Her leadership skills and dedication have proven quite successful for the growth of the United Way and it’s fundraising campaigns. She will be greatly missed.
Under Tarwater’s direction the current campaign for the United Way has raised about $442,500, about 64 percent of its $650,000 goal.
United Way funds help several entities in Sevier County, including fire and rescue, seniors, counseling and rehabilitation, crisis intervention, and youth.
