Hollywood legend Debbie Reynolds is special guest
Debbie Reynolds, star of stage and screen, will be the city’s special guest when Pigeon Forge kicks off its award-winning Winterfest celebration on Thursday, Nov. 4. Pigeon Forge will mark the beginning of its 15th annual Winterfest with an evening of entertainment, capped off with a lighting ceremony in Patriot Park.
The event is free, and the public is invited to attend.Debbie Reynolds has starred in dozens of films including the classics “Singin’ In The Rain,” “How The West Was Won” and “The Unsinkable Molly Brown.” In 1997 she accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award at the American Comedy Awards.
That same year, Reynolds received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.Reynolds will open her Hollywood Motion Picture Museum next year at Belle Island Village in Pigeon Forge.
Kickoff festivities get underway at 5:30 p.m. with music from the Smoky Mountain Jazz Band. Pigeon Forge entertainer Louise Mandrell will host the kickoff event.
The more than five million lights that shine from trees, displays and streetlights throughout the city have become the hallmark of Pigeon Forge Winterfest. The lights will be illuminated every night for the duration of the event, which concludes Feb. 27.
Pigeon Forge Winterfest has been named the Southeast Tourism Society’s Festival of the Year three times and recognized by the American Bus Association as the Top Event in the United States.
