The Education Committee of Amigos International of East Tennessee is currently seeking volunteers to participate in community based projects.
Amigos International is a local organization dedicated to assisting immigrants from all nations who now live in our community. The group is also committed to bridging the gap between international cultures and their own local culture.
Currently the education committee is seeking volunteers to participate in several ways.
Starting in September, Amigos International will be starting a family based English class. Class will be held on Tuesday nights at the Pigeon Forge Primary School from 6p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
English as a second language (ESL) classes will be held for adults. Tutors will help school age children of all grades with homework as well as educational activities. The group also hopes to be able to provide a daycare for toddlers who will be read to.
If you wish to become a member of Amigos, or if you wish to participate in the above mentioned projects, please contact Jim Rouhan, Chair, Education Committee at 429-3798 or jimrouhan @mindspring.com
