JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman alum Zeke Beam will become the new play-by-play announcer for C-N football and basketball games, athletic director David Barger announced today.
Beam, a Knoxville native, is entering his seventh season with the Eagle Radio Network. The 2002 Broadcast Journalism graduate of Carson-Newman will handle the play-by-play call for C-N football and men and women’s basketball games. Beam is very familiar with the C-N program as he served as the sideline and halftime reporter for the Eagles’ football games and the color commentator for the basketball games over the past several seasons.
“I am very excited about this opportunity,” Beam said. “Carson-Newman has been a part of me for the past seven years and I have enjoyed getting to know how things work and now it’s nice to have this chance. It’s something I am really looking forward to.”
He takes over the play-by-play duties from Bobby Rader, C-N’s announcer for the past six seasons, who stepped down to pursue other interests. Beam will be joined in the football broadcast booth by former Eagle football player Jim Vines who has served as the color commentator for the past six years.
Beam will broadcast his first football play-by-play game for the Eagle Network on August 26 when C-N opens the season against Winston-Salem State.
