On Thursday, April 8, seventh and eighth grade basketball players at Seymour Middle School will have their chance to show the employees of NIKE Factory Store of Five Oaks how its done. The store will be holding a charity basketball game at the school at 7:00 p.m.
“NIKE encourages their employees to get involved with the community and kids,” stated substitute teacher, volunteer and NIKE Employee Jack Fullerton. “Store manger Pat Kintzele and myself have had the opportunity to hold local charity basketball games at different schools such as Pigeon Forge Middle School, New Center Middle School, and Seymour Middle School.  We hope to encourage the kids to be more active and that you can have fun playing sports.  We want this charity game at Seymour Middle to be the biggest and best event we have held so far and we are doing everything possible to make sure of that!”
The events have proved successful. According to Fullerton, “We raised $6,000 at the New Center game between the gate fees and concessions. All of the money goes to the schools. Principal Ms. Nelson said she would use the funds for new computers and for the athletic department.”
Door prizes will include two free entrees from Karaoke Café, two free admissions to Tuckalachee Caverns, and a round of golf at Creekside Plantation Golf Course. Silent auction items will include a Nike golf bag, Goodies from Harry & David, a gift pack from Starbucks plus much more.
“We’d like everyone to come and have a great time,” stated Fullerton who has just been promoted to store manager of the Opry Mills NIKE store in Nashville.
