The Tennessee Smokies have teamed with Walters State Community College to announce the Smoky Mountain Showdown, an exhibition game between the two baseball programs at Smokies Park on May 5, at 7:15.
“This is a great opportunity to offer a special event for baseball fans in the area,” said Smokies President Doug Kirchhofer.
The Senators baseball program has won five state and regional titles and has been to the NJCAA Division 1 World Series twice, in 1984 and 2003.
Last year, the Senators finished the season ranked No. 3 in the nation. This year’s team has a 23-6 record and was ranked No.3 in a pre-season poll by Collegiate Baseball magazine.
