The Sevierville Chapter of NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees) 1678 will be hosting members from across the state on April 19 and 20 at the Oak Tree Lodge in Sevierville for the state convention.
The event will mark the first time Sevier County has hosted the convention since 1974.
“We are excited about hosting the convention in Sevierville,” said convention chairman Glenda Huff. “You can see our opportunity to promote Sevier County only comes every 30 years.”
“We would like for our whole NARFE membership in Tennessee to feel like Sevier County gave them a warm welcome.”
Huff said the organization is asking local businesses to donate something to use as a door prize at the convention. She would also like to give visitors a gift to remember the experience in Sevierville.
She said the convention committee is also seeking donations of pens, pencils, rulers and other such items to use as small advertising gifts for “goody bags” that will be presented to every convention attendee. As many as 225 delegates are expected to attend the gathering.
