Authorities are investigating the cause of a small plane crash at Tri-Cities Regional Airport that killed a Sevier County pilot and severely injured his only passenger.
Jack V. Key of Seymour died on impact when the single-engine Cessna 210 veered off the runway during take-off and crashed Sunday afternoon.
Passenger William O. Kerman of Estill Springs is in intensive care at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport.
Kerman was listed as the plane’s owner.
Witnesses said the plane appeared to be practicing taking off and landing. It had flown from Greeneville.
