Hempels serve as a true example of teamwork in a relationship
Two creative minds met in 1972 at the University of Missouri and since that meeting they have been inseparable. Dean and Linda Hempel were married after just two years of courtship and moved to Pompano Beach, Fla. They completed their education and it became more apparent as the years flew by that their union was special.
Dean was a creative businessman, opening Ocean Divers and The Gold Shop, and Linda dabbled in banking, distribution and transportation.
In 1987, the Hempels moved to Tennessee. Dean obtained his contractor’s license and Linda earned her Tennessee Real Estate license. “The idea was that’s a compatible working relationship. She would sell the houses and I would build them. We were joined with common direction and common goals,” said Dean.
The Hempels worked together in the real estate business for approximately 10 years. Dean constructed a home for his aging parents so they could relocate from St. Louis to Tennessee so they could be cared for.Within one year after construction of Dean’s parents’ home was completed, their health began a downward spiral.
Giving it up for love
“We gave up both of those careers. She [Linda] took care of my mom and dad while I learned and got involved in the financial business. This type of business gave me the flexibility to work days, if I wanted to work days and nights, if I wanted to work nights,” said Dean.
Dean said he and Linda strived for a solid foundation for their financial business, as they had done with each previous business venture. “In the past we have always built them on strong ethics and strong honest integrity and we knew this business had to have it. I think that’s one of the reasons we have been very successful,” said Dean.
