One of the rites of spring begins anew as the 2004 baseball season gets under way for Greater Sevierville Little League. Little League, founded in 1939 in Williamsport, Pa., is the world’s largest youth sports program with more than 2.8 million children and 1 million volunteers in more than 100 countries. More than 30 million people have played in Little League programs.
Greater Sevierville Little League played its first season in 1996. Today it is the only Little League program in the county. Therefore, our boundaries now include the entire county. This year, approximately 400 children ages 5-15 will compete in several divisions of play in baseball. Games are played at Sevierville City Park.
