The Lady Eagles at Seymour Middle laid claim to what as best as anyone can remember is their first county crown. Seymour, playing on their home court as tournament host, defeated New Center 41-36 for the large school crown at John R. Wade Gym.
Coached by former Lady Eagles standout guard Tracy Spires McCoy, Seymour overcame adversity, forced to replace start Keila McClain at midseason due to a broken hand. SMS overcame the difficulty when Natalie Hawn stepped up for her team.
The Lady Eagle’s championship team members are: Hailey Lindsey, Hannah Rule, Brittany Scott, Keila McClain, Lou Anna Smith, Kendra Brown, Sara Cruze, Natalie Hawn, Sarah Morin, Leah Parton, Ashley Elliott, Monica Rogers, Tiffany Miles, Amanda Lou Allen and Rachel Smith. McCoy was assisted by Stacey Lindsey.
