District 2 County Commissioner passes
Sevier County lost another of its familiar faces Saturday when County Commissioner Riley King passed away due to an apparent heart attack. King served as a second district commissioner for many years and had long been active in the county in a variety of roles.
Many knew him from his work at Sevier Solid Waste, others knew him as the voice of Little League football. He announced at the Sevierville and Pigeon Forge leagues for over 30 seasons.
King’s sense of humor and love for children are things that will be dearly missed according to friends. He was well loved and respected, just a few months ago cracking jokes on himself and other local leaders at the Sevier County Lincoln Day Dinner where he served as the MC and kept the whole crowd laughing throughout the evening.
County Commissioners were some of his dearest friends and many expressed shock at the loss of King so soon after losing Ray Godfrey.
