Sevierville police responded to a two-vehicle accident at approximately 12:33 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, at the intersection of Dolly Parton Parkway and Henderson Avenue.
The accident occurred when a 1998 Honda Passport, driven by 20-year old Christina Jandreau of Cosby, TN, collided with a 1987 Nissan Maxima driven by 38-year old Carole Thomas of Sevierville, TN. The Maxima was traveling west on Dolly Parton Pkwy., when Thomas apparently attempted to turn left onto Henderson Avenue. Thomas allegedly drove into the path of the Passport.
Thomas and a passenger in her vehicle, Donald Riggs, 63, of Sevierville, were flown via Lifestar air ambulance to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.  Jandreau and a passenger in her vehicle, 19-year old Adrianne Waters of Gatlinburg, were apparently uninjured.
According to Sevierville Police Officer John Engwall, there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from the Maxima. Engwall also stated that he discovered an open beer bottle in the Maxima, which had apparently spilled its contents inside the car during the collision. Possible charges are pending.
