Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center has received four awards from Professional Research Consultants, Inc. (PRC). PRC is a nationally known healthcare marketing research company headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska.
Fort Sanders Sevier received three awards as a 2003 PRC Top Performer Hospital in Emergency Department Services, Inpatient Services, and Outpatient Surgery Services. To earn the Top Performer recognition, the medical center’s satisfaction ratings for emergency, inpatient, and outpatient surgery services surpassed approximately 200 other participating hospitals who assessed patients’ rating of this service throughout the 2002 calendar year.
Fort Sanders Sevier was also named as a 2003 PRC 4 Star Customer Service Hospital in Nurses’ Respect for Patient Privacy for Inpatient Services. The 4 Star Customer Service designation is limited to only those hospitals or health facilities that achieved a score in the top 25 percent of the nation, specifically those between the 75th and 90th percentile. The percentile rankings are based on the percent of patients who rated their hospital as “Excellent” for Overall Quality of Care in 2002, and are compared to a database of healthcare facilities nationwide.
Of more than 200 hospitals and health facilities currently conducting inpatient, outpatient, outpatient surgery and emergency patient satisfaction research, 31 facilities were 4 Star Customer Service hospitals for inpatient care; 24 facilities achieved 4 Star status for outpatient care; 15 facilities achieved 4 Star status for outpatient surgery care; and 26 facilities received 4 Star status for emergency care. (Note: Some of the hospitals and health facilities received 4 Star status in more than one patient care category.)
Fort Sanders Sevier will receive the awards at a presentation celebration on Thursday, July 10 at 1:30 p.m. in the medical center’s dining room.
The patient satisfaction research is conducted weekly throughout the year. PRC contacts a random sample of patient of Fort Sanders Sevier via telephone for a confidential interview to assess their satisfaction shortly after their hospital experience. The research findings are then presented to the hospital or health facility to use in continuously improving patient satisfaction.
