The actions of a good citizen in the Seymour area have led to the arrest of Joshua Adam Breeden, 20, of Sevierville, on five counts of aggravated burglary. Also arrested in the case were Charles Cleo Ballard, 35, of Sevierville, and two juveniles.
Detectives Stephanie McClure and Matthew Cubberley, who were investigating a string of burglaries in the Zion Hill, North Shiloh, Davis Lane, Piney Road, and Reid Schoolhouse Road communities, received a tip from a concerned citizen that included a complete description of the white Lincoln Town Car being used by the alleged burglars. Following up on the lead led to the arrest of the suspects that same day.
Two of the burglaries occurred Sunday night in the Zion Hill community, three others on Monday night. Several thousand dollars worth of guns and jewelry were taken in the thefts, along with other items. Police say they believe they have arrested all four involved in the burglaries.
“My hat’s off to the citizen who came forward with the vehicle description and tag number. Both of them were right on, and it really helped break the case,” Detective McClure told The Herald.
McClure stated that approximately seventy-five percent of the stolen property has been recovered, and it was possible that more could be recovered eventually.
One of the juveniles involved was almost captured by one of the victims in the case, when he came home and surprised the youth in the process of the theft. The homeowner gave chase to the escaping suspect, but only managed to briefly hold the youth before he struggled free, leaving behind a pair of shoes, which were subsequently surrendered as evidence in the case.
