In a Monday match at Eagle’s Landing, the young Seymour Middle School boys golf team posted a victory over Sevierville and Gatlinburg. Seymour’s team was composed entirely of sixth grade competitors. The Eagles were led by Andrew Ramsey’s match low 42. Jeffrey Giles (SEY) took second on a 48. Spencer Rudder (SEY), Chase Turner (SEY) and Thomas Laughlin (SEV) shot 49’s to tie for third place honors. Gatlinburg was led by Jeremy Cason’s 53.
Seymour ended the round of nine holes with a 188, Sevierville finished second with a 218 and Gatlinburg posted a 227 for third.
The girls played a seven-hole contest and Sevierville (77) won the close contest by four strokes over Seymour (81). Gatlinburg finished with 88.
Sevierville’s Courtney Michaluk shot the round low 38 while Chelsea Davis (SEV) and Amanda Moore (SEY) tied for second at 39. Lauren Tatum’s 41 was good enough for third but wasn’t counted in the team score for Sevierville. Eagle Lindsay Clark (42) took fourth with Highlander Brittany Hays.
In earlier action, Seymour’s boys (188) won a three way match with Eagelton (214) and Carpenter (199). The Lady Eagles won a playoff match with Carpenter 14-19 after the teams tied at 59. Eagleton’s girls finished third with 72. Boys match low was Ramsey (43) followed by Giles (46) and Eagleton putter Craig Kalahar (46). Girls honors went to Carpenter’s Brittany Gill (27) followed by Kate Watson’s 29 (SEY) and Lindsay Clark at 30 (SEY). Whitney Simerly had a 32 for Carpenter that forced the play off.
