The local soccer teams had busy weeks. The improving Eagles took their second district win at Austin East but lost in the final minute in a heartbreaker to Halls at home. The King’s Academy lost at home to Sevier County Thursday then fought visiting Scott County to a draw.
Seymour 5, A-E 0
SHS won a district victory in downing Austin East 5-0. Eagle junior Ryan Perry netted two goals in the contest. Grant Scalf scored his fourth of the seaon while Robert Zeits and Jesse Oakes contributed a goal apiece in the match-up at A-E. Setting up the goals with assists were Ryan Perry, Jeremy Fowler, Omar Lopez and Zeits.
Seymour (2-5) moves to 2-1 in district play. Seymour travels to TSD on Tuesday for their fourth district game.
Halls 3, Seymour 1
The Eagles put together their best effort in two weeks for seventy-eight and a half minutes Tuesday night. The last ninety seconds were the decision. The team defense limited Halls to just one goal in the first half and kept the ball around the Red Devils goal in the second half. After numerous shots by the Eagles, Seymour’s Grant Scalf scored on an assist from Jay Elliott with two minutes left to knot the game at one up.
The Eagles (1-5) best overall effort of the season fell apart in the last ticks, as the Red Devils maneuvered two goals in a minute and a half to escape Benton Householder field with a last minute win.
Sevier County 2, TKA 0
The Bears came to Seymour and used two first half goals to net the win. Jason Ownby threw the ball in to Alex Ottolini for the first and deciding goal. Nick Miller added a goal later in the half.
TKA was in the familiar position of being outmanned, but uncharacteristically was also outshot 12-4. Sevier County kept the Lions long throw in plays in check to frustrate the efforts of TKA leading scorers Danny Oh and JooMin Kim.
TKA 3, Scott County 3
The Lions took an early lead on goals by Danny Oh and a nifty Valentin Uwayo score off a Scott Yang assist. Scott County brought forth French student Jean Berlier and he pulled out a hattrick, scoring three second half goals to fight the Lions to a 3-3 stand off. Abubacar Badio netted TKA’s third goal and only score of the second period.
