After receiving calls from citizens regarding a reckless driver on Wednesday, March 26, Sevierville Police were on the lookout for a green Ford Thunderbird in the area of the Sevierville Primary School. Officer Ken Garner saw a vehicle matching the description on Middle Creek Road and followed the car.
Officer Garner observed the Thunderbird cross the centerline of the road several times on Middle Creek Road, between Eastgate Road and Dolly Parton Parkway. At approximately 8:35 a.m., Officer Garner stopped the vehicle at 929 Dolly Parton Parkway.
Officer Garner determined that the driver of the vehicle, Delia McKinnon, 32 years old, from Sevierville, did not have a valid drivers license. She also failed field sobriety tests. Prior to searching the Thunderbird, officers noticed suspicious materials inside the vehicle and requested that the Sevierville Fire Department respond to the scene. Corporal Richie McMahan used the Fire Department’s breathing apparatus as he searched the vehicle.
The search yielded several drug prescriptions not belonging to McKinnon, including Xanex pills, and numerous bottles of ephedrine. McKinnon was subsequently charged with several offenses, including four felonies:  DU.I., driving on a suspended license, reckless endangerment of a child (McKinnon allegedly dropped-off her 6-year old daughter just prior to the traffic stop), felony fugitive from justice (wanted in Missouri), two counts of felony possession of prescription medicine, felony possession of drug paraphernalia with the intent to distribute, and felony possession of schedule IV narcotics.
