The baseball Eagles left the nest for a two game swing through Blount County, splitting the trip at Maryville on Thursday and Alcoa on Monday, with a double header sweep at home versus Loudon sandwiched in on Friday night.

Seymour 9, Alcoa 8
The Eagles kept their district record unblemished, taking district win number 3, moving them to 3-0 in District 2-AA play (5-4 overall). Kevin Koeneman took the start on the mound at Aloca. Using a six fix, he went into the sixth, scattering 6 hits and 6 runs, while striking out 6. Koeneman gave way in the sixth due to a stomach virus, leaving with game tied at 6. Andy Trentham entered to get his first varsity win, and Todd Sanzo picked up the save.
 Matt Pryor kept his hot hitting from Friday, going 4-4 at the plate, scoring 3 runs, and picking up to RBI’s on a double as the Eagles built an early 6-0 lead over the Tornadoes. Zack Smith got his second triple of the year, hitting 2-3. Alcoa mounted a comeback through the middle innings, but SHS pounded out three runs in the sixth, to seal things away. Adam Gossett hit for his seventh and eighth RBI’s.

Seymour 10 Loudon 7
Daniel Miles notched his first varsity win by scattering 11 hits over 6 innings against Loudon. The Eagles shook off the Maryville loss by playing an error free game.
Seymour took an early 1-0 lead in the first, then went ahead for good with six runs in the second.
Zack Smith and Kevin Koneneman each picked up their second doubles of the season. Smith also tallied 5 RBI’s in the game. Logan McNulty added a solo home run in the sixth off Loudon closer Curtis to end the Eagle scoring. Chad Isbill came in to pick up the save for Seymour.

Seymour 6 Loudon 0
Nick Manis threw a one-hit shutout in leading the way to an SHS victory in the nightcap. Manis struck out twelve, yielding only four walks over the complete game performance. The outfield put on a hitting show to support the effort as center fielder Matt Pryor went 3 for 3, collecting his third double of the year and tallying 3 RBI’s in the game. Left fielder Logan McNulty went 2 for 2, getting 2 RBI’s and scoring two runs.
