Job seekers can learn how to use the Internet in their job search, how to write a resume and how to develop a portfolio during April workshops at the Five Rivers Regional Career Center. The workshops are offered at no cost to participants and everyone is welcome. Located at 6057 W. Andrew Johnson Highway in Alpha Square shopping center, the Career Center houses several area service agencies. Staff members are available from the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the Department of Human Services, Rehabilitation Services and Adult Education as well as Workforce Investment Act staff from Walters State Community College.
In addition to the workshops, the center regularly provides assistance to individuals searching for jobs and helps employers connect with potential employees. It also streamlines the job training process by combining several different employment services under one roof, such as those offered through the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Tennessee Technology Center, the Department of Human Services, Adult Education Program, and Workforce Investment. All services are free to anyone who is at least 18 years old and a United States Citizen.
Reservations are required to attend the informational sessions. To make reservations or to learn more, please call the Career Center’s Resource Lab at (423) 317-1078.
Sevier County job seekers can also get assistance locally at the Gatlinburg Career Center. Career Specialist Donna Mulholland can be reached at (865) 436-4381.
