Seymour, TN – The King’s Academy soccer team ran their record to 3-0 after an 8-0 mauling of the Powell Panthers Thursday night. Powell managed just five shots on the Lions’ goal while skilled dribbling allowed TKA to twenty-seven shots at the Panthers’ net.
The Lions’ striker Danny Oh scored on TKA’s first shot in the first half, later an assist from midfielder Valentin Uwayo led to a second goal by Oh. Leading 2-0, TKA’s JooMin Kim became the offensive spearhead, scoring two goals to close the first half with a 4-0 lead, carrying over with the first goal of the second half and a 5-0 margin.
Sweeper Rene’ Attoumbre sent the Lions eleventh shot into the net for a 6-0 lead. Keita Ochi closed out the TKA scoring, first on an assist by midfielder Daouda Badio then a lone shot to close out the night’s scoring.
Lions coach Paul Mobley seemed pleased with his team’s effort on the night. The King’s Academy team is off to a 3-0 start, winning at Sequoyah and downing Sullivan South at home in their first week of season action.
William Blount 6, TKA 4
TKA (3-1) took its first soccer loss of the season at William Blount Saturday. The first of three road games started against the Governors and their 45 man roster while three King’s Academy players didn’t start the game for disciplinary reasons. TKA did outshoot the Governors 15-8, but the effort wasn’t accurate enough to win.
Danny Oh got two goals, one on an assist from Valentine Uwayo, the other from an assist by Joo Min Kim. Kim scored on an assist from Daouda Badio. Keita Ochi scored with Kim’s second assist.
The Lions finish their three game stint on the road, traveling to Pigeon Forge on Tuesday and then a local battle of the suburbs across the street at Seymour on March 27th.
