Members of Faith in the Word Church along with Pastor Tony Wright (right) leave a note on the door of an area business stating that they prayed for the business’ success.
Do you think that sometimes your business could use a little extra help? A group from Faith in the Church is trying to do just that – with prayer. Pastor Tony Wright and a few parishioners meet at midnight on any given night and visit area businesses to pray for the success of their business and the prosperity of everyone that works there. “It’s something we just started doing a few weeks ago,” stated Wright. “I’ve had my own small business and it would have been nice to have someone do that for me. I got the idea one day when I received a note in my door from the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department stating that they had been at our property. It’s a great service and I thought we could expand on that idea with offering prayer.”
The team has already visited several businesses in the area and then something great happened. “We started getting requests from businesses who heard about what we were doing and they asked us to pray for their success,” said Wright. “Some requests came from the business owners themselves, others from friends or customers who knew the establishment was having a hard time.”
Wright says their concern is for the citizens of the area as well as the business owners in town. “They are related. The success of the business is the success of the community. And we want to say if you do not have a church home and are looking, then welcome home.”
Drew Barbee, a local business owner who works in construction stated, “It’s an awesome feeling to know that you had a church praying for the success of your business.”
“There are real people with real issues and we just want to offer them real hope,” said Wright.
