Dear Editor,
As former managing editor of the Seymour Herald I was a bit perplexed to see a letter in last week’s paper from a lady named Rebecca Parton concerning coverage of the cheerleaders. We made every attempt to cover the cheerleaders and make them a part of our sports coverage for the Seymour Herald. Your response to her obviously uniformed ramblings was eloquent and truthful. I was present and responsible for editing some of the stories on the cheerleaders you mentioned. I was also there when we did the football tab and remember how important it was for us to not just dedicate a small article but rather a whole page with individual snapshots and stats of each cheerleader.
Miss Parton made mention of the Tri-County “newspaper” and their coverage. Let’s get something straight. The Tri-County News is not a newspaper. It isn’t even regulation newspaper size. It is a tabloid that may or may not provide news to its readers. To say that they are the only “newspaper” to cover the cheerleaders is not only NOT TRUE but it is also not something to brag about.
Sincerely,
Former Managing Editor
Krista Laughner
