Tuesday night, January 21st, was Homecoming at Seymour Community Christian School. The homecoming opponent was Cedarview Christian School from Kingsport, TN.
Cedarview defeated SCCS in the varsity girls’ game 58-28. Kayla Wells of Cedarview scored 22 points. Ashley Ownby scored 15 for SCCS including 4 three-pointers. Amanda King chipped in 9 for SCCS.
In an absolutely thrilling game that saw many lead changes, the SCCS varsity boys defeated Cedarview 51-48. Ryan Money scored 21 points for SCCS, while David Burchfield and Nathan Johnson added eight points each for the victors. Jeremy Dorton was high man for Cedarview with 17 points. With Seymour in the lead 49-48 and the outcome very much in doubt, Ryan Romines stole the ball from Cedarview with 10 seconds left and passed the ball to Nathan Johnson for a lay up to seal a critical conference victory.
