A three-vehicle wreck on Chapman Highway started out as a simple trip to the county dump next to Floyd’s Market on Chapman Hwy. It ended up with four people being transported to Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center. None of the injuries however were considered life threatening. The names of the three passengers in the van were not known.
A 2001 Dodge Ram Van, owned by the Sevierville Douglas Cooperative, rear-ended a 1999 Dodge Durango, driven by Joretta Whaley, in front of Floyd’s Market on Chapman Highway, according to Tennessee Highway Patrolman Jeff Hood.
“The van just ran right into me which shoved me into the on-coming lane right under the wheels of the tractor trailer loaded with concrete blocks,” stated Jack Rogers, driver of the Durango. Rogers and his passenger, both of Knoxville, reportedly received only minor injuries. The tractor trailer is registered to A1 Block and Brick and was driven by Billy Charles Watson of Kodak
Sevier County Deputies David Lamon and Selena Ball were on hand to assist with traffic, and the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department aided in extracting Whaley from the Dodge Van.
