Wednesday, January 15, Pigeon Forge resident Raymond Pierce, age 40, dozed off behind the wheel, lost control of his vehicle and slammed the passenger side of the car into a tree off of Boyds Creek, according to reports from Tennessee Highway Patrolman Jeff Hood. Pierce was driving on a revoked license believed to be because of his insurance status, according to Hood.
Passenger Rodney Lee Watson died at the scene. Sevierville-Sevier County Fire Department was called to the scene to extract Watson’s body from the vehicle. Watson was unconscious when rescue workers first arrived on the scene. According to Hood, the case will be turned over to the District Attorney’s office pending results from blood tests on both men.
