Beginning at approximately 9:00AM on Tuesday, January 21, 2003, Walker Street will be closed between Old Douglas Dam Road and Sunnyside Avenue.
Access to houses in this section of Walker Street will be maintained. Through traffic will not be allowed.
This closure will be permanent. It is necessary due to the construction of State Route 448, which will connect Hwy. 66 and Dolly Parton Parkway.
The new road will begin near the current intersection of Hwy. 66 and Old Douglas Dam Road, go east and then turn south over the Little Pigeon River. It will intersect Dolly Parton Parkway directly across from the Parkway.
The south end of Old Douglas Dam Road will eventually be closed as well, causing it to become a dead-end street. This change will likely occur sometime in the next several weeks. Notice will be provided.
