The City of Sevierville and the Sevierville Tree Board are partnering to offer the popular “Give A Tree – Take A Tree” Program this holiday season.
The purpose of the program is to make use of cut Christmas trees and to encourage replacement of trees, by using the cut trees for mulch and providing free seedlings for residential planting.
Here’s how the program works:
* After Christmas, bring your cut Christmas tree to the Community Center and drop it off in the designated area in the front parking lot.
* Go to the Gym/Pool Office inside the Community Center and pick-up three, free pine tree seedlings, for planting.
The trees that are converted to mulch will be utilized throughout the City for cover around existing trees.  In addition to promoting use of the cut trees and tree replacement, the program also conserves space in our local landfill.
The pine tree seedlings are provided by the Sevierville Tree Board.  Pine seedlings will be available to approximately 150 patrons, between December 26, 2002 and January 5, 2003.  For additional information, please contact Bob Parker at 453-5441.
