A combination Swearing In, Christmas Party and Awards event was held last Saturday evening at the Seymour High School.
The evening began with dinner provided by the cafeteria staff of SHS followed by the group of nearly 150 participants moving to the school auditorium for presentations, awards and special notations. It was here that the firefighters were officially sworn-in to their new positions. County Commissioners Ray Godfrey and Marty Hamilton were in attendance to perform the swearing-in.
Retiring Chief Jerry Clark received an award for Officer of the Year. Fireman of the Year was awarded to Doug Weyant. Darryl Kerley, the new Chief for the SVFD for the next three years was made official by his swearing-in.
