Wondering what to do this Halloween? Many decide to do the normal routine of trick-or-treating but for others there are alternatives. Local churches are helping find those alternatives by offering a variety of programs and festivals for people to attend.
“Our theme is more about a celebration, with stories of the Bible. We don’t want kids wearing any scary or demonic costumes. It’s a place where families can just come and have a great time for the kids” stated a church staff member from Valley Grove Baptist Church.
While most events are scheduled for Halloween night, others have been continuing on all week. Smoky Mountain Animal Clinic was holding their annual costume party and contest on Tuesday. Children and animals got to dress up in their favorite costume and get a chance to win prizes.
”What I like about the church programs is that it offers an alternative to going out and treat-or-treating. The kids have a great time and it is in a safe environment” stated one local mother Dezi Lambert.
Admission to most events are free or at minimal cost.
Judgement House at Shiloh Baptist brings many actors together to present a dramatic presentation. They invite you to come and “Tour your final destination.” The Judgement House is open Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. The “experience” runs about ten minutes. They begin at 7:00 p.m. each night and conclude at 11:00 p.m. You can call 429-0552 for reservations.

It will takes approximately 1 hour and groups of 10-12 enter every 12 minutes. Judgement House® will begin each evening at 7:00pm and conclude at 11:00pm. Family Fall Festival
Bible Fellowship in Seymour is having a Family Fall Festival on October 31, 2002 at 6:30-9:00p.m. This is a Christian alternative to trick or treating or Halloween parties. There will be fun, games, good food, and great music! We will also have a Costume Contest. Bible characters or storybook characters ONLY! NO EVIL CHARACTERS! Come and have fun with us!!!
