Monday was a day of heavy rains in the area. Along with the rains came several accidents. One accident occurred when 18-year-old Jackie Galyon was on his way home from work around 4:00 pm, heading down Boyds Creek. There he received an unexpected shock. “All of a sudden I saw this red car drive out in front of me” stated Galyon.
The red car, a Dodge Avenger was “t-boned” just behind the driver’s door. The driver of the Dodge was a female. Galyon stated that he was not injured. The female driver was taken to UT Hospital for neck injury.
The afternoon traffic was gridlocked for several minutes while the wrecking services removed the vehicles and Tennessee State Trooper Arthur Galyon gathered the necessary information. Boyds Creek was especially bad from Chapman Hwy. to Rader Drive, where the accident took place. Sevier County Sheriff’s Deputy Gary Kent directed traffic.
Several other accidents occurred throughout the day including at least two on Chapman Hwy. Thankfully, it appeared no major injures occurred in any of the above-mentioned accidents.
