Boy Scouts from Troop 585 in Seymour took advantage of a school in-service day by completing their Law Merit Badge. The troop visited the Sevier County Courthouse the morning of Friday October 25th. During that same timeframe, Senator Fred Thompson, Gubernatorial candidate Van Hillary, and Senate candidate Lamar Alexander were making a tour stop by the courthouse. The scouts were able to visit with all 3 dignitaries in addition to two of our most respected judges in the state of Tennessee, the Honorable Rex Henry Ogle and the Honorable Dwight Stokes. Part of the Law Merit Badge requires a scout to attend a session of civil or criminal court. On Friday, the scouts attended arraignments with the Honorable Dwight Stokes. The judge later took time to explain the court system, the qualifications of being a judge or attorney, the definition of law, the jury system, and the difference between civil and criminal law
